This stretch is mostly flat water with three Rapids sets. Scenic stretch

through mostly hardwoods and pine forests. Small grassy islands give a place to stretch your legs with the occasional deer. The river narrows as you approach Strauss rapids followed by a few miles of boulder gardens.

Long stretches of riffles and Class 1 & 2 rapids. Several small islands and narrow channels to explore. Very little development. Very fun and scenic run with splashy  rapids. Good for that beginner whitewater enthusiast not looking for an all day trip.

Dubbed one of the best low-hazard whitewater runs in Wisconsin. Several long rapids and boulder gardens with numerous waves, holes, chutes, drops and eddies. Low water levels will test your skills and patience. Several hundred yard segments to enjoy.

The rapids are not especially difficult, but with high water levels this segment has fun drops, holes, waves and eddies. Very little development makes this a gorgeous wilderness setting. Stop at the Ledge to stretch your legs. Popular surf spots and numerous waves in some of the pushy rapids.

A premier whitewater run. There are five Class 3 to Class 4 rapids with several falls and drops over 5 feet. The Dells, Dalles Gorge and Big Smokey are on the playlist. Big Smokey is a high speed slide with a big drop at the end. Additional Permits are needed to raft this segment as it flows through the Menominee Indian Reservation. No fishing available.
